Pow Wow

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

27 May 2010

Each year, Rossbrook House welcomes the community to three public events: the Sister Geraldine MacNamara Night, the Annual Community Meeting/Pow Wow and the Open House.

Please join us at any or all of these events to celebrate the children and youth who are Rossbrook House.

Sister Geraldine MacNamara Night
This event is held close to February 20, the anniversary of Sister Gerry's death. It was held for the first time in 2002. On this night we:

  • Remember and celebrate Sister Gerry the founder of Rossbrook House
  • Present the Sister Geraldine MacNamara and Andy Rupert Awards to deserving young people
  • Have the children and youth feature a program of Rossbrook House.

Annual Community Meeting and Pow Wow
The Community Meeting and Pow Wow is held at the end of May. At this event we:

  • Present the Kateri Award to an outstanding volunteer
  • Celebrate the beauty of the Aboriginal culture with a Pow Wow in the field across from Rossbrook House. Students of our alternative school programs, Rossbrook participants and guest dancers fly to the music provided by local drum groups.

Open House
The Open House is held every year in early November. At this event we:

  • Present the Sister Geraldine MacNamara, Elizabeth Hill and John Scott Heuvel Scholarships
  • Sell the crafts which the alternative school programs and the Rossbrook Beading Group have created.
