Pow Wow

23 May 2013

Each year, Rossbrook House welcomes the community to four public events: the Annual Community Meeting, Annual Pow Wow, Fall Carnival and our Open House.

Please join us at any or all of these events to celebrate the children and youth who are Rossbrook House.

Annual Pow Wow
The Community Meeting and Pow Wow is held at the end of May. At this event we:

  • Celebrate the beauty of the Aboriginal culture with a Pow Wow in the field across from Rossbrook House. Students of our alternative school programs, Rossbrook participants and guest dancers fly to the music provided by local drum groups.

Open House
The Open House is held every year in early November. At this event we:

  • Present the Sister Geraldine MacNamara, Elizabeth Hill and John Scott Heuvel Scholarships
  • Sell the crafts which the alternative school programs and the Rossbrook Beading Group have created.
  • Highlight some of Rossbrook’s great after-school programs and activities

Annual Community Meeting

The Annual Community Meeting which has been held on Pow Wow night, now has its own date! It will be held on June 28, 2012 at 7:00 pm. We will share highlights of the year and will recognize and honor some special young people, staff and volunteers.

Fall Carnival

The 4th Annual Fall Carnival – a joint community celebration with the Winnipeg Police Service will be held on Wednesday September 5, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We close down the street and have a block party! It is a wonderful evening of entertainment, police displays, BBQ , face painters and lots and lots of fun.
